D was a close call between Dada the early 20th century experimental movement or Delta the Greek letter that provided a precursor for the Latin D.

The lowercase letter holds a strong resemblance to our Latin d but the uppercase interestingly has been left behind in mathematics and ancient Greek and the curved form that befits its lowercase variant is now favoured.
The research for the aesthetic of the final form was based in ancient greek art of the time.

The final form is comprised of stylisation of the lowercase delta amalgamated into the uppercase Latin D to create a contemporary fusion of lineage and modern display. The subtle gold border is designed to mirror that of the decoration applied to pottery and artistic works of the time. Two extra tiles show the details of the calligraphy, created via a 6mm pen.
