Using a biro in the vinyl cutter

In a big to create deconstruction of my typographic forms, today I pixelated 3 sets of the EPS high form typefaces to varying degrees and then drew them with a biro in the vinyl cutter. This was also to highlight the synergy between the human hand and digital replication equipment. There is a both a human and machine-controlled gesture within the final outcomes. The pixelation getting more intense is supposed to represent the breakdown of masculinity as it is a reference of Emanueles existing logo, which is pixelated to do exactly that. I like how the pen isn't a perfect rendition of the vectors, giving almost a humane nature to a mechanical process. I intend to incorporate these as part of my flag/cape to highlight form as the deconstruction of function within fashion typography.

Fashioning the industry - Prospective work with Cal Beasley

For a while, I have been exchanging pleasantries with SE London artist and videographer Cal Beasley. Cal has worked with a host of streetwear industry names from Nike to Samuele Ross to Liam Hodges. I understand he works as an assistant to Will Reid on shoots. Will does photography for one of my collaborators/clients from this year DENIAL so I presume this is where the connection started. I am a fan of Cals work and recently was invited to participate in a publication he is compiling featuring images of creative in quarantine, so I obliged a somewhat cringe image of myself for the publication and asked if he'd be down for some collaborative work in summer. I think the fact that Cal is linked to Liam Hodges whose name keeps coming up through different projects is a good omen and I'd love to work for Liam one day, perhaps with Lou Alsop if that comes up. @36daysoftype introduction

I've prepared the following list as a means of reference for the research conducted on each day of 36 days of type starting on Monday. My intention is to produce characters that are at the beginning of the word they represent 'A is for Asemic writing' etc... We'll have to wait and see what happens when I get round to numbers, I haven't decided on this yet. My plan is to have an eclectic set of characters that would ideally derive from 36 different movements of art or typography or artists or pieces of research but I'm sure there will be a little overlap so we'll see what happens with that. My strategy is to spend only max 2 hours on each letter each day to allow time to produce other work for other projects but I have a feeling some days might get very immersive.
